Parisians are lucky: their museums are among the most beautiful in the world, and this is reflected in the quality of their cafés and restaurants. After a nice exhibition, nothing like a cup of tea or a good lunch tasted on a nice terrace, or even in front of a view of Paris. Let’s not spoil our pleasure…
The Museum of Decorative Arts has a charm named Louie. White tablecloths, terraces in the Garden of the Tuileries, service worthy of the Kings, Southern cuisine signed by chef Benoît Dargère, umbrellas of pachas, the interior decoration is signed Joseph Dirand, A point. As for the table linens, it is very whimsical Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (who also designed the logo). In short, here, nothing is left to chance. The addition, you are warned. The time is well worth the detour!
You probably didn’t know it, because even if you regularly visit its free exhibitions, you can’t see the terrace of the Maison de l’Amérique Latine. And yet! Ladies and gentlemen, here is the most confidential and charming address of the Parisian museums : in a French garden with a beautiful sculpture by Pablo Reinoso, a magnificent terrace extends the gourmet pleasure of being in an old 18th century mansion, same atmosphere as in the Tuileries (white tablecloths, salty addition, delicious meals), but with the secret in addition. Warning adulterers!
One more fancy address for the road? Go (re)discover the Nissim Museum of Camondo, next to Parc Monceau. Located in the former home of a family of bankers (more precisely in the small Trianon-style place they had built to display their art collection), the museum recently opened an elegant restaurant with, once again, a breathtaking outdoor space. The chef, Alexis Le Tadic, offers a nice menu, with a set of desserts by Christophe Michalak. Feast.
Currently in the works of accessibility to the public in the situation of handicap (like many institutions !), the musée de la Vie Romantique (Museum of romantic life) will see the end of our nose as soon as it reopens in June. Located in the Rue Chaptal at the end of a small cul-de-sac, the museum has a very enchanting flowery terrace. Lovers of 19th-century style snacks, bring out your crinoline and your book! A few tables under the trees, roses in sight, and green shutters, it’s like being in the country.
Museum restaurant says George, of course. The restaurant-rooftop-terrace of the Centre Pompidou took place years ago in the old site of the staff canteens, hunting at the passage a little of the original spirit of the museum and bringing there a trendy atmosphere. It’s the kind of restaurant where there’s a rumor that if we don’t put you next to the windows, it’s that you’re not pretty enough, but let’s forget about that, and let’s look at the view. It is the most beautiful in Paris!
Superstar architect Joseph Dirand can be found in this velvety address of the Palais de Tokyo. The man here took inspiration from Art Deco, Yves Klein and Adolf Loos to design this sublime restaurant with a vertiginous ceiling. And, as at Chez Loulou, he is accompanied by chef Benoit Dargère, who has developed a revised French brasserie menu. The two friends once again offer us a genuinely gourmet address, where the temptation to spend hours at the table is intoxicating. Ideal for a small committee birthday.
